SPOOKY HALLOWEEN!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!
I hope the weather is co-operating a bit better for everyone else than it is here! It has been snowing for 3 days, and it isn't very warm. Makes for a real enjoyable trick-or-treating adventure!
Morgan had a party at school this morning, and is quite excited about the whole Halloween thing. Amy doesn't have a clue what is going on, and I am pretty sure she is going to hate getting in and out of her car seat tonight. But, I guess it's only going to be as fun as we make it! (That is for your benefit Rhonda, cause I hope your prepared for tonight!) I am making my sister come with me to help get the kids in and out, and I am sure she is waiting anxiously for it too start!
Well, have a great time tonight! And remember, you can always come home and have a nice, cold "treat" for yourself after it is over! I know I probably will be!

Flu Week

I have finally found a moment to write something! This past week has been unbelievable. My youngest daughter got the flu on Tuesday night. When I was finally feeling confident that she was on the mend, I actually sat down here and started to write my next post. I had about 3 sentences written, when my other daughter started throwing up! I'm not kidding! And, she's feeling better now, but last night, Daddy got it. (And when daddy gets it, everyone hears about it, let me tell ya!) So, now I'm having to look after him, when all I want to do is curl up in a ball and sleep for about 3 days! Oh well, luckily I don't have the time to get sick!
The day that Morgan got sick, was actually her school picture day. She had gone to school and had her picture done. She was a bit timid, but she did it. And, I think she might have even been smiling in one of them!
Well, I'll try to get back sooner next time. Hopefully, I can get all the germs out of this house before I get sick!

Proud Mommy!

Well, I made it to school on time! All I can say is, I give those nursery school teachers credit! I could never have the kind of patience it would take to do that all the time! Way too much energy in one room for this mom! Anyway, Morgan did great! She had taken her Winnie the Pooh, and a favorite book for show and tell. When it came time for me to read her favorite story to the class, she said that she wanted to do it. It was so cute! She was trembling and nervous, and she spoke so softly that I am sure no one could hear her, but her mommy did, and was I ever proud! She just recited from memory the story that she could remember, and to do it in front of the class took some courage. And, she didn't even stay stuck by my side the whole day either! She played with her friends, and wasn't too worried about what I was doing. All in all, it was a great day, and I know she had fun having mommy there. These are the memories that remind you how much being a mom means.

School Days Again!

Tomorrow is mommy helper day at Morgan's school. She is so excited! This will probably be the first day she is actually looking forward to going to school! Plus, she gets to do the show and tell, and be the helper for the day. And, I'll get to see how she is with other kids. (Hopefully, she won't be stuck to me the whole day!)
So, any one who is interested in joining a forum for moms, we have just started one over at MomsTime Cafe. Go sign up! We want to have a community of moms from all over the world. It is just getting going, and we need some brave souls to take the leap and be some of the first to sign up! Don't be shy, it can be alot of fun!
Well, I guess I should get some sleep. Don't want mommy being late for school tomorrow!

"Mommy Super Powers"

In the last post, I talked a bit about how funny some things kids say can be. Well, sometimes they can say things that just show you how children's minds work! At the same time, they can make you realize that no matter how small you may feel in the world, in a kids eyes you are the world.
The other day, Morgan mentioned something to me about having "super powers". I didn't really pay much attention, just kind of laughed "Yeah, right!". Anyway, yesterday, I was working on the computer and she was sitting on the floor next to me looking through some of my nursing textbooks. As she looked at some of the pictures, she asked "Why do you have so many doctor books?" I explained that they were books from when mommy was a nurse. She thought for a minute, then said, "but I thought you were a mommy". I said that I used to be a nurse before I had her and Amy, so she asked what I did when I was a nurse. I said that I helped look after people who were sick, and helped them to get better. She looked me straight in the eye, with her eyes as wide as they could go - "See! I told you you had "super powers" mommy!" I just had to hug her!
So, I would like to mention that I am trying out a forum over at www.momstimecafe.com/forums. Go and sign up! We need to get some of you who aren't afraid to be trailblazers to get things started. And, I ask is for you to be patient as those of us who will be moderating the forum learn all of the ins and outs! I think it could be really fun if we get people from all over the world in there! So, don't be shy!

Bad Attitude!

I am sitting in the public library right now because Morgan is at a reading group. She still doesn't want me to leave her here on her own. I'm not really pushing it yet, as I am just so grateful that she is getting better going to school. Anyway, the computer I am writing this on has the smallest screen possible, so I will apologize in advance for any spelling errors. I just really can't even see what I am writing.
Today, I want to talk about how you really have to be careful what you say around your kids sometimes! Yesterday, I had put Amy's boots on the wrong feet, (I just can't deal with getting them ready in the winter!), and then when I went to put Morgan's on, I put them on the wrong feet. I said "Boy, what is wrong with mommy today! Why do I keep doing things like this?" and Morgan didn't even miss a beat. "Maybe it's because you have a bad attitude mommy." Where do they get these things from....
I keep a little book beside my bed for each of the girls, so I can try writing things down when they say cute or funny things. I don't keep up with it as well as I should, but I try to write the really good stuff in them. It is amazing how quickly you can forget the things they have said, until you read it and remember.

Isn't It Wonderful, Mommy!

Well, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know I did. This morning we started getting our first serious dose of winter. Although I realize that I should have learned by now to be prepared for the weather around here to do crazy things, I really wasn't ready for this yet! I spent all morning scrambling because I realized that hats, mitts, boots, jackets - nothing fits anymore! And, Amy just did not understand the purpose of mitts or a hat, so that was an ordeal in itself. By the time I actually got out the door, I could have gone with no jacket, the amount of sweating I was doing! Then, to really make me crazy, both kids go running out into the snow SO excited - isn't it wonderful, Mommy! Well, I guess it is. Not the actual snow part, or the ordeal of getting them dressed for the next 6 months, but it is nice seeing them excited.
Amy had to have her last needles today (until Kindergarten). She officially weighs more than her 3 year old sister! I never know exactly what the nurse is thinking when she looks at the charts and says she is "way over the 100 percentile!) And, the thing is, she isn't really chubby - she is very tall as well, so she is just solid. Meanwhile, her "big" sister is such a little bean pole! Oh well, they are such good sisters already. As soon as Amy had her needle, she was crying wanting Morgan (Morgy). I thought that was kind of sweet!

Happy Thanksgiving

I just want to say Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians! I hope everyone has a great day, and gets to spend some time with family. It's a day to think about what all is important in your life, and to feel thankful for what you have. So often throughout the year, life has a way of wearing you down sometimes, and you don't stop to take notice of the little things in your life that mean so much. We often take friends and family for granted, so we need to step back today and remember how important everyone in our lives are. I know that I am VERY thankful for all my family, I have been very blessed. And, I have the greatest friends in the world!
So, everyone have a great day, and eat as much as you can!

Velcro Mom

OK, so I have never claimed to be mom of the year! But, do you ever have days where you just think that you have to be doing something wrong, because your kids just seem to be driving you crazy? I feel so bad when I think things like that, but the truth is - they really are! I have 2 little girls who seem to think they need to be physically attached to me at all times, and at the same time, they both think they don't need to listen to a word I am saying.
In case you hadn't figured it out, yes, I am having a bad day! It just gets so exhausting to never be able to get away from them. When we go somewhere, they are stuck to me like velcro. And, I always start wondering what people must think! I mean really, I feel like my kids have no social skills! I realize that because of me staying home with them, they haven't had the chances to play with other kids as much, so I do feel guilty about that. I'm just getting tired I guess. It would probably be easier if Shawn was home a bit more, but that just isn't going to happen any time soon, so I need to figure out how to get them unlatched from me.
Oh well, I know the day will come when they won't want me anywhere near them, but I sure would like to find somewhere in between for now!

Daycare Needed!

Well, in case any of you haven't read the comments that people have been putting on at the end of my postings, make sure you check out the last one! My sister always has such great advice!
Tonight there is a meeitng in town for a committee that has been very dedicated in trying to get a community daycare running. It is so badly needed in this town! There is a severe shortage, and another private daycare has just announced that it will be closing. It has been very frustrating for some of us that have been involved in trying to raise the money for it. We try to do fundraising and public awareness, but the support has been pretty much lacking. I just want to say that there are a few people who have really gone all out to get things going, my sister being one of them, and it hasn't been easy. The sad thing is, out of the handful of people who are actively involved in going to meetings and fundraising, none of us will actually ever use the daycare! Well, we are getting closer, and hopefully we can see the results of years of work very soon! So, I just want to say to Rhonda, Karen, Norma, and the rest of the committee -- you guys are doing a great job, and you can be proud of what we have managed to accomplish so far.
And, just a little sidenote -- Morgan didn't cry today when I dropped her off for nursery school!! She did spend all morning asking how much longer she has to go to school, but at least there were no tears!
