My Little Mishap!

OK, I haven't been back for a couple of days. I put my back out a week ago, and I am only now able to actually sit at the computer long enough to type. I spend every day lifting heavy kids, doing heavy household chores, (garbage, changing water jugs, vacuuming etc.), shoveling snow - things that could at any time cause you pain. How did I put my back out? I bent over to pick some diapers up to take downstairs. Nothing heavy. I was layed low for a week by a diaper! I can't even tell you how bad it hurt! I felt something just POP in my back, and I couldn't stand up. Talk about humiliating! Of course, everyone thinks you must have done something really bad, like slipping on some ice or a car accident or something. And when you explain how it really happened, I can tell you that you don't get alot of sympathy! Alot of people laughing, but no compassion! Oh well, my husband got to stay home with us for a few extra days while I recovered, and it meant the world to my kids. The fact that I couldn't do anything for them made them realize that they can rely on daddy sometimes. And, I think it showed daddy that he was capable of doing those things. So, out of my tragic accident comes some good!

A PreShoolers Mom's Rant

I really have no excuse for not writing much lately, other than I guess I am suffering from severe cabin fever, and too lazy to write. As of this moment, we are at a temperature of about -50 C with the wind chill. So, instead of fighting to bundle my kids up in the 5 layers of clothing they would need to stay warm, I just don't go anywhere. Pretty sad when my brothers coming to visit are actually a sanity saver!
Tuesday I ended up being the parent helper at Morgan's school again. It had originally been scheduled to be my day, but another mom had asked me to trade with her. So, I had gone at the end of November for her. But then another mom had asked to trade with her, so she did, which meant that mom was taking my spot. Well, she managed to forget and just couldn't find anyone to babysit. I felt bad, (can you say sucker?) and didn't want to leave them with no parent for that day, so I went anyway. This mom has already "forgot" the first time it was her turn, so there was no helper that day. I feel sorry for her little girl though. She hasn't had her parent day yet, and most kids have had 2 (Morgan 3). That's the day they get to be the special helper and have show and tell. I just don't understand some people. I am sorry, but when you put your child into nursery school, all the parents have the same commitments, and I find it very frustrating when some people just don't put in the effort.
Like last night. 3 times a year, the parents are supposed to clean all the toys and things in the classroom. We were all phoned on Monday night with the day and time. How many showed up? 4 of us. It is divided into 3, so you only go once. There are about 20 kids in the morning, and about 15 kids in the afternoon class. So, out of 35 parents, divide by 3 - that leaves about 11 parents each time. And - we had 4. That really upsets me, because the rest will have to pay a $10.00 fee, which really, what if we all said we would just pay the fee. Oh well, some people just like to sit back and let the rest of us worry about the details. And yes, I am venting. Do you know how many Lego blocks we had to clean?! I had nightmares.
So, what is the moral of my story? If you are putting your child into nursery school, and it has requirements of your time -- DON'T PUT YOUR KID IN SCHOOL IF YOU CAN'T MAKE THE EFFORT TO FIND THE TIME TO COMMITT!

Girls Time

I have finally made it back! I hope everyone had a great holiday. Christmas was wonderful here, the weather was beautiful, and I got to see my whole family. New Year's wasn't anything too exciting, but nowadays it is just about impossible for me to stay up until midnight! So, I spent the minutes leading up to the new year yawning and doing the "head bob" trying to stay awake.
My niece is now staying with us for a couple of days, as her mom and dad have gone to Mexico. Last night we did our nails, so I will apologize for any spelling mistakes, as my fingernails are longer than normal. We put the french nails on, and although they look OK, they are a bit difficult to get used to. I just can't believe how grown up she has become! Last night as we were doing all these girl things, I realized that she isn't the little girl she was. Time has gone so quickly! And, she even lost another tooth last night. (Totally grossed me out!) So, the tooth fairy had to find her here. She got $5.00, which really surprised her, because apparently she only usually gets $1.00 for little ones, and $2.00 for the molars. I explained that perhaps the tooth fairy felt bad that she was missing her mom and dad, so she left her a little extra.
But, the kids are having a great time. My house however, has seen better days. My living room is one giant bed, because Morgan and Rebecca are sleeping on the floor. And, we had fake fingernails, chips, empty cups - you name it!- everywhere this morning. Almost took me back to my single days living in Brandon, waking up and finding the remnants of last night's party!
Tonight we do our face masks. Can't wait!
